Who We Are

Indian Family Association Wolfsburg e.V. (IFV) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to Indian cultural events and festivities. In the recent years, a lot of Indians reside in Wolfsburg and work for VW, primarily occupied in Mechanical Engineering, IT-Technology, diplomats and business professions. Diwali is our best-loved festival celebrated in a grandiose manner with fireworks in Wolfsburg every year.

What We Do

The main objective of this association is to hold the Indian Community together to their base, nuture their tradition and to guide the new generation with the different ways of life: living abroad in two extremely different cultures to coexist. With every passing year, we get more guests, and get to know more people. Along with this comes the added benefit of sharing our culture with International Audience. One day we expect to have IFV as the biggest Indian Organisation in the Northern Germany.

Our Mission

IFV will help new-comers feel at home, support them with information regarding Visa and German lifestyle. IFV also intends to arrange tours to different parts of Europe, Get-together Dinners, Diwali, Holi celebrations, Summer fest, BBQ evenings, picnics and many other activities. In the years to come, our children will be proud of this Association to have given them not only the local German and English knowledge but also a glimpse of their own culture.

Know INDIA

Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Indian cultural history spans more than 4,500 years. Much of Indian architecture, including the Taj Mahal, other works of Mughal architecture, and South Indian architecture, blends ancient local traditions with imported styles. The Taj Mahal, has been described in the UNESCO World Heritage List as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". The political boundaries of India encompass a wide range of ecozones—desert, high mountains, highlands, tropical and temperate forests, swamplands, plains, grasslands, areas surrounding rivers, as well as island archipelago. India offers a different aspect of her personality – exotic, extravagant, elegant, eclectic -- to each traveller to the country.

India boasts of its wide biodiversity of flora and fauna, flaunting the royal Peacock and the Bengal Tiger as its National Bird and Animal respectively. The Royal Bengal Tiger, the largest carnivore is found only in the Indian subcontinent and can be found in most regions of the country. The peacock, has enjoyed a fabled place in India since and is frequently depicted in temple art, mythology, poetry, folk music and traditions. India is also home to several diversified range of reptiles, birds, flora and well-known large mammals, including the Asian elephant, Asiatic lion, leopard and Indian rhinoceros. Some of these animals are engrained in culture, often being associated with deities.
